2026 PRICE: $99/mo + Uniform. No registration or sign-up fees. This accelerated, personally tailored program does not include competition training or promotion testing, unless the student requests it. Your teen will receive 2 months' worth of self-defense combatives and fitness training in just 4-5 weeks. If they can extend their stay, they can achieve 5 months' worth of training in 2-3 months. This is not a joke; our full-time students engage in competition training across 10 different styles of martial arts. Each art has its unique moves, and each style has its distinct characteristics, with specific rules for scoring and competing at each tournament. We are not primarily a competition school; it's more of a 'side-hustle' for students to enjoy. Typically, students start preparing for tournaments 2-3 weeks before the event—not months, but weeks—even across different arts! Does it work? Since 2013, our small teams of 4-6 have achieved 577 Gold, Silver, and Bronze finishes across five states and in international competitions! Over 40 students have qualified for the US Nationals, and there are currently 8 NC State Games Gold Medalists training here. None trained for more than 2-3 weeks for any event, and most only compete a couple of times per year. So, yes, we can do this for your senior! As of March 2026, we have two teens in college overseas who graduated from this program. While we can't disclose their travel details, in the past, we've had teens go on to colleges in Utah, LA, NYC, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Boston, Honolulu, Eastern Europe, Northern Europe, and several locations in SE Asia. All are doing well, and some have already graduated and returned home. Notably, two students—14 and 16-year-old girls—traveled independently to Bali and Jakarta, both known for being dangerous for young females, especially exchange students. Both returned home safely after their semesters. At Jung Kwon Academy, we believe that martial arts training encompasses not just physical fitness but also mental and emotional growth. While a longer training plan is always beneficial, significant personal improvement can happen in shorter time frames. This requires professional instructors who not only understand the material but also can assess each student's abilities and weaknesses effectively. Many studios have knowledgeable teachers, but understanding a student's potential goes beyond that—it demands certified instructors trained to evaluate individuals comprehensively. Our accelerated pre-college program thrives because our senior instructors have backgrounds in psychology, military operations, law enforcement, and undercover work. They connect with students on a deeper level, fostering trust and respect. They genuinely care about each student, which the students recognize. After just a class or two, training becomes more refined and tailored to the individual, incorporating innate abilities like balance, coordination, reflex times, and sensory perceptions. These factors are quickly integrated into the training. Within a week or two, we will be addressing body-mind function controls and limits that many programs overlook entirely. Ultimately, you need a martial arts team that treats your child like their own. For instance, one of our teen college girls recently survived an attempted gang kidnapping during a class trip in North Africa, just before Christmas. She applied her training, and she and her classmates remained unharmed. After a struggle, they barricaded themselves in a room with furniture, successfully resisting multiple attacks overnight. Once the gang left at dawn, they quickly reached the US embassy and were safely escorted to the airport.

Chung Do Kwan is a rare martial art that stands out not only for its unique blend of the best elements from nearly every classical Asian art but also for its distinctive components. The civilian version of original Taekwondo is known as Oh Do Kwan, which is taught in nearly all commercial studios and academies worldwide, including Olympic-style schools that originated from Oh Do Kwan. In contrast, Chung Do Kwan represents the military version of Taekwondo. The term 'Combat Taekwondo' is not merely a marketing gimmick; original Chung Do Kwan TKD has served as the training system for military and civil protection forces in over 170 countries since the 1950s, and it remains in use today by organizations like the US Army and US Marines. So, why did we adapt this military version for our martial arts programs aimed at the general population? Firstly, from the 1950s to the 1980s, there was no other version of Taekwondo available; everyone learned this style globally. Secondly, as we explored the roots of the art, we discovered that many effective fighting maneuvers and techniques had been lost or forgotten. The push to get TKD into the Olympics in the early 1980s meant that many effective techniques were dropped to minimize injuries and facilitate point scoring. Additionally, martial arts schools began to recruit many small children in the late 1980s, making it unsafe to teach the old style. Consequently, Chung Do Kwan was phased out from commercial venues. When we opened Jung Kwon Academy, only two original style schools remained in North Carolina, both transitioning to sport-style training. We started as a club in 2011, and by 2016, the US Kido Black Belt Hall of Fame recognized Master Hughes for his 'Outstanding contributions to the martial arts,' highlighting that 'Jung Kwon Martial Arts is the sole provider of original 1940's style Chung Do Kwan in North Carolina'. We also offer competition training and free training add-ons to enhance our students' experience.

You get free coaches at all events; no team membership fee.

Free Martial Arts Training Add-ons

Pro competition training is free, if you want it.   It's not required - you do not have to compete; it's just a fun side-gig for our members.

But it's worth considering:  it's been widely recognized that people who do compete in martial arts develop more speed, better balance, more confidence, and quicker reflexes.
